Happy Friday! Levantrain first launched in August 2025. It’s a community exploration into what a Middle East interconnected by high-speed rail might look like—and how to get there.

This week, we set up shop on GitHub. Most, if not all, of the content, data, and code generated in the process will be open source.

This week saw the release of the Levantrain map (v0.0.2), including more than 80 (approximate) locations of historic railway stations and a few of the major historic railway routes that connect them. Still a bit rough around the edges but a good first step forward.

The website also saw major upgrades:

    • Authentication & security (sign-up, login, etc.)

    • User profiles

    • Admin section

    • Activitiy feed

    • Blog

    • Lab area (public explorer for data under development)

Much more to come, stay tuned!
